Dr. Roy Khoueiri, Assistant Dean of the Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU) Graduate Program at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics (FBAE), NDU main campus, opened the floor recently with a welcome address at the North Lebanon Campus (NLC). In it, he said that the unemployment rate in Lebanon is so high and the competition is so fierce that students must stand out in order to succeed. He then highlighted that the graduate program at NDU, which is attracting students from across many majors and many universities.
Dr. Khoueiri expounded on the three master programs offered by the FBAE. The oldest being the MBA, which is suitable for students coming from various professional and educational backgrounds, and seeking a general degree. The acceptance in the MBA program depends on a composite score, consisting of weighted criteria, such as a GPA and GMAT score, among other factors. The second program is Master of Science in Financial Risk Management. The third program is Master of Science in Business Strategy. The latter is exclusively offered at NDU, and it was recently launched in spring 2016. These two M.S. programs aim at providing students with a specialized degree, and they are suitable for any student wishing to pursue education in doctoral program. To be accepted in the M.S. programs, a GPA of 3.0/4.0 is needed. Students with a lower GPA can be accepted in the M.S. program, but under probation.
Dr. Khoueiri finally provided a brief comparison between these three programs. While students must complete a total of 39 credits to earn an MBA, they need to complete a total of only 30 credits to earn an M.S. While students can choose between a research project and a thesis in the case of MBA, they are obliged to write a thesis in the case of M.S. Finally, he encouraged all students to pass by the FBAE offices if they had any further questions.
